Say NO to Excessive YLWD Rate Increases

The Yorba Linda Water District is at it again. After five years of water rate increases averaging 9.9% per year and sewer rate increases averaging 15% per year, YLWD is asking residents for another five years of HUGE increases in water rates. This is despite YLWD record reserves of almost $73 million.

Tell the YLWD enough is enough. Send in a written protest of the proposed water and sewer rate increases. Below please find a letter that can be copied and modified with your specific information for your residence.

Residents Empowering Residents.

Yorba Lindans for Local Control (YL4LC) is a city-wide resident group dedicated to providing clear information about the upcoming housing measures to help you make informed decisions. We are your neighbors and we believe in:

  • Local Control: The Housing Element allows Yorba Linda to decide on responsible housing growth, preventing the state from imposing its will.

  • Protect Our Community: Approving the plan ensures new developments meet our city's standards, safeguarding our neighborhoods, schools, parks, and especially our open spaces.

  • Safer Yorba Linda: Proper housing planning creates safe evacuation routes in emergencies, keeping our families and loved ones secure.

Why Bryant Ranch Shopping Center Should Not Be Built As Proposed Into A High Density Residential and Mixed Use Development?

  • High Density Building: This developer’s proposal would rezone the Bryant Ranch shopping center property to allow a by-right, 4-story, 270-320 unit housing, mixed use development bypassing many current City of Yorba Linda building specifications and avoiding CEQA requirements.

  • Very High Fire Risk: The shopping center property is located in a VERY HIGH Fire Hazard Severity Zone which has been subject to numerous fire related evacuations since 2008. Approval of the developer’s initiative would put both lives and property at risk.

Traffic and Evacuation Routes: This area of Yorba Linda suffers from a traffic level of service grade of F and is impacted almost daily by issues occurring on the 91 Freeway and is also subject to pass-through Corona/Riverside commuting traffic creating substantial congestion and unsafe conditions for residents and businesses in the area.

Together, we can ensure Yorba Linda remains the Land of Gracious Living.
